Ian Bogie was without several members of his squad with James Curtis suspended, Carl Jones, Martin Brittain, Steven Baptiste, Stephane Pelonde, Christopher Ascherl and Steven Richardson all missing.
Gateshead started brightly then an Alex Francis free-kick hit the back of the net, but an own goal by Chris Swailes, made it 1-1. Kidderminster made it 2-1 before the break.
Captain Kris Gate struck for the visitors after half time to level the score once more, but it wasn't enough as Kidderminster found the winner with ten minutes left from Matthew Barnes-Homer.
