Williams Finally Signs

Williams, who has been capped at England Under 21 and B levels almost signed before the transfer deadline but was advised not to because of his non-contract status at Darlington.

The Middlesbrough born player, 32, made over 200 appearances for Sunderland in an eight year stint, and has played for Cardiff, Hartlepool, Bradford and Scottish Premier club Dundee.

Williams started his career at York City before moving to Sunderland in 1996.

Gateshead have sent the forms to the Football Conference in time for Williams to make his debut against Oxford United this afternoon.
