Hayes and Yeading Preview

Last updated : 05 September 2009 By Heed Mad
New signing Armand One and midfielder Christoph Ascherl look set to make their debuts in a game Bogie has described as a "must win".

One looks set to partner either Michael Mackay or Stephen Richardson up front, while Ascherl is likely to play out of position and partner James Curtis in the centre of defence.

With Carl Jones, Chris Swailes (both hamstring injuries) and Stephane Pelonde (suspension) all unavailable it leaves the side short on defenders.

One question though ponders the likely decision to start Ascherl. Why doesn't Alex Francis drop back to partner Curtis, a position he has played in several games before?

It looks as though Bogie would prefer to try an unknown quantity in defence to the more assured player, which would also leave Phil Turnbull able to return to partner Captain Kris Gate in midfield.

Like Gateshead, Hayes and Yeading were promoted last season via the play-offs. Both sides have a similar form guide. Both having won once. H&Y are a point ahead, but have played a game more.

A win today for Bogie and his team should lift the club away from the relegation zone, but a point might be enough following the 10 point deduction of Salisbury City, who return to 0 points.

Squad to take on Hayes and Yeading (probable starting XI first): Provett, Baxter, Robinson, Curtis, Ascherl, Brittain, Phillips, Gate, Francis, One, Richardson, Mackay, Farman, Turnbull, McDermott, Armstrong, Cave and Forsyth.
