Chairman Graham Wood announced the ambitious plan yesterday and has created a media storm in the region.
Appearing on BBC yesterday Mr. Wood said the club would be full time, but would allow the option for part time players who are good enough to be in the proposed 24 man squad.
This announcement comes off the back of the proposed Reserve side which will compete in the Central League next season alongside reserve teams from Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
An increase of 30-40% in the wage bill have been estimated and the Chairman is willing to put the money into the club.
The interview also saw Graham Wood announce that land has been bought for the club, and planning permission is pending to buil the clubs new 9000 capacity stadium.
Further news on this should be announced later this month, and fans are hoping the most popular site is the answer to their prayers. The North Durham site is the likely option, however could the club be set for a return to the Redheugh area?
