Gateshead Make it Five

Gateshead have confirmed the signing of former Newcastle United player Martin Brittain.

Brittain, who was released by fellow Blue Square Prem club Kidderminster Harriers where he started 30 league matches last season.

The right-sided midfielder started his career with Newcastle United, and made one start, plus seven from the bench in various competitions before joining Ipswich, Yeovil, Carlisle and then Walsall.

Brittain, 24, will join the squad for their first training session on Saturday, as they go for fitness training.

Transfer Facts:

Since the end of last season Ian Bogie has signed keeper Paul Farman from Blyth Spartans. Farman is likely to act as back-up to Jim Provett.

Experienced defender Chris Swailes has joined from Scottish Prem side Hamilton, while Mark Robinson solves the left back crises, joining from York City.

Stephen Richardson has rejoined the club from Durham City, and will bolster the striking options.

Finally Martin Brittain who joins today after his release from Kidderminster Harriers.
