| News from Mansfield Town (who face Gateshead on Saturday) is that Gateshead have signed their left back Paul Heckingbottom. |
Heckingbottom, born in Barnsley, has a wealth of experience in the Football League with Darlington, Norwich, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley before rejoining Bradford and then dropping out of the league to join Mansfield.
Heckingbottom started his career with Manchester United before joining Sunderland. There he had spells with Scarborough and Hartlepool before joining Darlington on loan, and then perminantly where he played 106 league matches.
Whilst with Sheffield Wednesday he was in the side which won promotion via the play-offs back to the Championship from League One.
While Heckingbottom is only on loan until the end of the season there is a chance of making it a perminant signing.
Both former Mansfield players Heckingbottom and Daryl Clare will be unavailable on Saturday when they travel to their old club with Gateshead. |
